USA Triathlon Junior Elite Series Guide

The USA Triathlon Junior Elite Series is the premiere national-level racing circuit for junior triathletes in the United States. The series attracts over 300 of America’s top young triathletes, as they vie for individual and team National Championships and Series titles, selection to World Championship teams, and, most importantly, experience the dynamic format of Olympic-style triathlon.

2013 USA Triathlon Southwest Region Talent ID Series

Non-drafting Sprint distance events for 13-19 year olds

The Southwest Region of USAT is sponsoring a series of developmental sprint races to encourage youth (13-15) and junior (16-19) athletes to participate in triathlons. Age is determined by USAT rules (age as of Dec. 31, 2013).

Each event winner will receive an award provided by the region as well as ranking points.

Rankings will be updating throughout the year. The last event of the season will crown the series champion in each gender and age group.

Series Rules :

1. All youth and junior race finishers will be included in the end of year regional rankings.

2. All athletes must be annual USAT members.
 
3. In order to win Series Championship and be named USAT Southwest Region Talent ID Series Champion, all athletes must complete a minimum of 2 regular series races or 1 series race plus the championship race.

4. Championship race will count as double points.

5. Champions will be decided upon completion of the last event.
 

Series Scoring:

Points are awarded to racers based upon their finish as follows:

 A 25 point bonus will be awarded to any athlete who finishes 3 or more events, and double points are awarded at the championship event.

1) Rankings will be posted and updated in April, June & August in 2013. Final rankings will be posted following the championship event in mid August.

USAT Southwest Region F1 Elite Race Series - ages 12-18

The Southwest Region F1 race age groups will be 12-15 and 16-18 (as of Dec 31)
19 year olds will be accepted by invitation only

Rules for rankings:

1. Athletes must race at least 2 events to be named USAT Southwest F1 Champion.
    This may include 1 regular race along with the championship race.

2. All athletes that finish an event will receive appropriate ranking points.

3. 25 bonus points will be awarded to the female and male athlete with the fastest T1 when timing provides the data.

4. First place male and female athletes will be provided a special award from USA Triathlon Southwest Region at each event.

5. There is no qualifying requirement to participate in these events, but it is highly recommended each athlete has experience with   group cycling, a good swim background and knowledge of USA Triathlon draft legal rules.
