SW REGION REQUEST FOR GRANT PROPOSAL
The Southwest region of USA Triathlon will once again be providing financial grants for the development of youth programing in our region. Leaders of youth programing are encouraged to present a proposal to the SW Regional Council for consideration.
The performance measures used to determine eligibility for grants are:
1. Grants must be used for educational programs, clinics and/or events;
2. Grants must be used to foster the development of new sanctioned youth events;
3. Grants must be used in conjunction with a youth club/team.
Recipient programs must follow the criteria listed below:
1. Accessibility to the receiving program can not solely be based on athletic performance.
Programs must be designed for participation and to promote youth sport and activity at all levels;
2. Programs must be able to provide measurable results;
3. Grant requests may be for new initiatives as well as for enhancements to existing programs;
4. The age range of focus must be 7 - 15 years old; and
5. Programs must have the potential for broader implementation either within the region or in other regions.
These funds may only be used for the above stated purposes and may be applied retroactively to the 2011 training year. Grant recipients will also be required to prepare a report following grant award and application detailing how grant was used and results achieved.
Interested parties are invited to prepare a Request for Grant and email it to: USAT-SW Admin.
Please provide grant requests by September 15, 2011.
**Update - Additional Information**
1. Grants are intended to be used for program that focus on 7-15 years old.
This is a critical part of the criteria.
2. There is no grant application form. The application is free-form. It is advisable to very closely follow the criteria noted above or your application may be disqualified.
3. Grants are not available for the individual athlete.
4. A total of approximately $4,500 in grants will be awarded. The region would prefer to assist several organizations with smaller grants ($500-$1000) as opposed to awarded a single, lump sum grant to one group. Please scale your application accordingly.
5. Following the criteria closely and crafting a clear, concise proposal with sustance is advisable.
6. There are no 'sample' grant applications around which to model your application.
7. There is no available history of previous grant recipients at this time.
8. The USAT SW Region Council's Grant Committee will review applications and make recommendations to the SW Region Council. Council members will then vote on finalists.
9. Please request a confirmation of your grant submission from the USAT-SW admin. If you DO NOT receive a confirmation, then
your request may not have been received. It is your responsibility to follow-up and make certain that your submission was received.
10. Recipients will be announced on blog page as soon as that information is made available to the webmaster.
**Update - 10/30/11 - 2011 USAT-SW Youth Grant Recipients have been announced.**
